A family moved out of their home leaving six domesticated, house-only cats on the street to fend for themselves. In the process of trapping these felines, Buster was trapped as well. Buster is a mackerel tabby, one of the smartest and most affectionate cats you could own. He loves to play with his toys and thinks a good brushing is heavenly. He’s a little larger than most cats but we think his size just means there is more to love.
A neighbor offered to adopt him but a vet checkup revealed Buster is FIV positive. Unfortunately that neighbor had other cats and did not want to take Buster into her family. FIV is a lentivirus, a slow-progressing virus that can compromise a cat’s immune system, reducing its ability to fight off illnesses. The virus has a long latent period then progresses so slowly that it may never affect a cat. FIV is not transferrable to humans. Buster can live a long life with the proper care but we recommend an adult-only home without any other pets.
Please submit an application to adopt Buster. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Buster during visiting hours (10am to 3pm daily) and get to know him a bit.
