Maggie welcomed visitors to the AALOC Humane Center at the Open House on May 01, 2010. For those whose compassion and generosity helped Maggie heal from horrific abuse, it was a heartwarming get together of animal lovers, some who drove over 100 miles to come see a healthy and happy Maggie after her long and painful recovery. The 150 rescued dogs and cats welcomed the attention from potential adopters and those who came just to give some lovin' to the animals at our no kill Humane Center.
AALOC was overwhelmed with an enormous display of mouth watering food generously donated by Robert & Wilma De Luca, owners of Upper Crust Catering. Sandwiches, salads, vegetable trays, cheese and cracker assortments, as well as incredible array of desserts were "properly presented" on brand new pet dishes and pet bedding!
Leah Weigand, only 6 years old, used her own birthday funds to buy a load of snacks to sell to help the animals at AALOC.
Sandman's Canine Services brought three AALOC dogs that they have been training and helping to heal from the scars of abuse. Visitors were able to interact with Nicky, Buster, and little Holly, and learn a great deal about what is involved with rehabilitating dogs who have suffered at the hands of humans.
