Toby rescued himself from the local shelter! When an AAL volunteer was at the local county shelter picking up a dog to be rescued, Toby was being walked by a shelter volunteer. As he made his way past the AAL rescuer, he rushed to her, jumping up and giving kisses! He couldn't have been more charming. When she picked him up, he curled up in her arms, and ensured that he would be rescued too.
